If there's one thing we can't get enough of it's good artists from Worcestershire, partly because it's like saying 'We can't get enough of 3 or 4 good bands' and partly because hidden under the utter terrible-ness of the Worcestershire music scene lies actual talent! The most famous Worcestershire artist is probably Sam Isaac who has played sessions for Huw Stephens, Colin Murray and Zane Lowe, all broadcast on Radio 1. Plus for 'mainstream' points, he's been played on Jo Whiley's show too.
He's embarking on a UK tour come October with all of the usual dates: London, Manchester, Leeds, some more unusal places: Hereford and Tunbridge Wells, and crazily some city called Worcester who apparently make sauce or something.
This might be the most important event to happen in Worcester since Sam Isaac last played in Worcester.
Sam's also coincidentally releasing an EP at the same time as touring which is amazing luck. The EP is called "Sticker, Star & Tape" and promises to be utterly amazing (review soon) and no doubt the live show will be a barnstormer too (review coming the day after). Sticker, Star & Tape is being released on Alcopop!, the younger lout-ish WKD equivalent of Big Scary Monsters, who are amazing generally and released Sam's single Sideways way back in December '07.Sticker, Star & Tape can be bought here (Alcopop shop) or from Sam's online shop where you can get some great deals on 'Sebastian, NO!' (lyric from Sticker) t-shirts. It's released on the 22nd September (this Monday!)
Because we love Sam Isaac and Alcopop love us for loving Sam Isaac, here're 2 from him, remixed by thoughtful electro acoustic God James Yuill and Rod Thomas who I've just heard for the first time whose music I might describe with the phrase 'ukulele handclap violin wonderments'.
